geni is pretty cool – they want to build a family tree for the world. Check out the demo. It’s basically social networking family style, and has real potential.
But why on earth did “Australasian” Gen-i not own the .com domain name? Is it because they are now owned by Telecom New Zealand? or because they were made an offer they could not refuse?

The brand is gen-i not geni so it’s about the strength of the brand by ensuring people use the right format…
So whats the real potential of the geni? Maybe if they built a global family tree and link it to one of those DNA testing sites it could be interesting…
