1: 1 GB data cap, though you can sign up to other plans, with the largest 60GB and $2 per extra GB.

2: You need to spend $20 on tolls on your home line. Who uses these anymore?

3: I’m in Perth right now.

Actually, to be fair, all and every price decrease for mobile and domestic boradband is good. What I don’t understand is why Vodafone didn’t include mobile services, and especially mobile broadband in this deal. They are still charging $500 per GB when you go over your limit there, and a magnificently crazy $10-30,000 per overseas roaming GB.

  3. The roaming fees are outrageous. They advertise 3G speeds and then hit folks with bills of $1000s if they dare to use the service. The online usage accounts page is a week or more out of date as well, so a user has no idea what sort of bill is being built up.

    In fact, it would be cheaper to fly business class round the world and pick up newspapers and magazines at every stop than use Vodafone roaming. It’s a racket.

    Others have blogged about the “valley of death” for NZers trying to do business overseas. Vodafone certainly add breadth and depth to that valley.
